Daily Habits
Do you have daily habits? I think we all do even if we don’t realize it, we all do. If you set your alarm and follow a certain routine, then you have daily habits. How do you feel when your “routine” is thrown off. It can be as simple as your child forgot their lunch and you have to bring it by the school. That takes 30 minutes and can be enough to throw off your entire day. Well, kids with ADHD need daily habits too. Call it structure or whatever you would like, but I have found that when my son followed the daily habits that we had in place, he did much better with focus, less anxiety, and generally a more happy kid which makes for a happy momma. What’s the old saying, when Mom’s happy, everyone is happy 🙂
Okay, Mary, so that’s all great, but how do we even begin to set up a structured plan for our child. Well, I’m going to give you 5 Steps to Create a Daily Habits Plan for you and your child.
- Set a realistic time to get your kids up in the morning and prep the night before.
- Make a Visual Schedule for your child to follow so he/she knows what to do every step of the way. ( Morning, After School, Bedtime)
- Look your child in the eye when communicating and give clear instructions.
- Praise your child when they finish a task, etc.
- Don’t give up.
I found a great download for you guys. Here’s the link to check it out.
